Valley of the Temples Memorial Park

A little piece of heaven on earth, the Valley of the Temples is a modern multi-cultural, site of rest for many wealthy Americans and Polynesians.

Why would you wish to visit a cemetery?

The Valley of the Temples Memorial Park is in a beautiful setting just off the Kahekili Highway. The main draw to the park is the amazing Byodo-In (The temple of Equality), a replica of a 900 year old temple of the same name in Japan. This temple was built as a celebration of the 100 years of Japanese immigration to Hawaii.

The temple sits at the bottom of a mountain, surrounded by a river and a pond full of Koi-Karp and turtles. In the grounds roam wild peacocks, swans, ducks and doves nest above the temple. The red coloured temple is striking against the backdrop of verdant fluted cliffs. The Temple houses a shining 9ft high Buddha, fresh tropical flowers are placed in front of it every day.

On your way out we recommend you climb the hill to the hilltop mausoleum, and take in the view of rolling valleys and temples - it is truly amazing and will take your breath away.
